• The Team Storage Space Service offers secure file exchange and storage capabilities within a shared networked environment, designed to support collaboration among administrative units and research teams at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh).

The service is available through two dedicated infrastructures:

files.auth.gr – designated for use by administrative departments

archives.auth.gr – intended for research groups or for the storage of large data volumes (e.g. ≥ 1 TB)

    Core Features

    • 50 GB of initial storage capacity, with the possibility of expansion upon formal request
    • Daily data backups, retained for a minimum period of 60 days
    • User-friendly file restoration, including retrieval of deleted files and access to previous file versions
    • Secure data transmission and high-speed access within the AUTh internal data network
    • Enhanced data protection against risks commonly associated with local storage, such as malware, ransomware, and hardware failures

Storage is hosted on a specialized disk array infrastructure with robust fault-tolerance, and is further safeguarded by a dedicated backup system to ensure data integrity in the event of hardware failure or disaster scenarios.

  • Submission of the online form is restricted to permanent staff members of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).

In order to access and utilize the service:

    1. You must have an active AUTh institutional user account
    2. Your device must be located within the AUTh network or connected via the AUTH VPN

    3. You must be using Microsoft Windows 10, or 11. Microsoft Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows Server 2008 are not supported

  • The head of the administrative unit or structure, or the designated coordinator of the research group is responsible for submitting the online form for access to the service.

Upon completion of the network folder setup by the Digital Governance Unit (DGU), users may access and manage their allocated storage space from a workstation either within the AUTh network or connected via the AUTh Virtual Private Network (VPN), in accordance with the procedures detailed in the official User Manuals.

To restore deleted or previous versions of files: Right-click on the file or folder and select > Properties > Previous Versions. For comprehensive guidance on file recovery procedures, please refer to the relevant section of the official File Restoration Manual.
