Microsoft Office365 Education

Microsoft Cloud Services for Educational Institutions
  • Members of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) are granted access to a suite of cloud-based services through Microsoft’s Office 365 for Education program.

Office 365 constitutes a dynamic platform, the composition of which may vary over time as Microsoft adds or discontinues specific services available to academic institutions. At present, the following services are among those provided:

    • Cloud storage through OneDrive for Business, with allocated space as follows: 100 GB for undergraduate and postgraduate students, 500 GB for all other active university members, 50 GB for AUTH alumni and Guest users
    • Email services, managed via the Outlook Web App, with institutional addresses ending in auth.gr
    • Access to online versions of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote
    • OneNote Class
    • Calendar
    • Newsfeed

Moreover, under a dedicated institutional agreement between AUTh and Microsoft, eligible users are entitled to access the desktop editions of Microsoft Office 365, which may be installed on a specified number of personal computing devices.

The above services, along with all related parameters (e.g., available storage capacity), are not administered by the Digital Governance Unit (DGU) and are therefore subject to modification or discontinuation at the sole discretion of Microsoft, without prior notice or formal communication.

  • Users must own an active institutional account at AUTh and maintain an active affiliation with the university.

In particular, access to the desktop editions of Microsoft Office 365 is exclusively available to the following categories of active AUTh members:

    • Students (undergraduate and postgraduate), and doctoral candidates

    • Teaching staff

    • Administrative and technical staff, whether permanent or contract-based

Use of the Office 365 Desktop Applications

The Office 365 for Education suite includes both online and desktop applications. Users may access and utilize these services independently. The AUTh IT Center provides support exclusively for issues related to access and activation of the services, and does not provide technical assistance for the operation or functionality of Microsoft applications. Relevant documentation and updates to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section are provided periodically to support users.
