Visitors to Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) may be granted temporary access temporary access to a limited set of the Univesity’s digital services, such as the wireless network and centrally managed Computer Laboratories.
Depending on their needs, visitors may obtain:
- Guest Pass Account which allows access to the AUTh Open wireless network, offering limited internet access (restricted to web browsing and email services). The account is valid for one day and also enables access to centrally managed Computer Labs.
- Temporary Eduroam Access Account which provides access to the eduroam wireless network, typically in the context of participation in events or official visits to the University.
- A temporary account providing access to AUTh’s Computer Labs.

The following conditions apply:
- To obtain a Guest Pass, the user must have a mobile phone connection capable of communicating with five-digit numbers within Greece.
- Access accounts for eduroam or Computer Labs are issued upon request by a member of AUTh or an event organizer.
- Visitors from institutions that participate in the eduroam infrastructure may connect directly to the AUTh wireless network using their home institution credentials; in such cases, no guest account is required.

Connection to the AUTh Open Wireless Network (Guest Pass)
- Select the AUTh Open wireless network from your device.
- After connecting, a dedicated registration page will appear.
- Follow the registration process to obtain a Guest Pass via SMS, provided that you have a mobile number from a Greek provider and the ability to communicate with five-digit numbers.
- You will receive your access credentials via SMS for network use.
- The same account may also be used to access AUTh Computer Labs.
Event and Conference Organization – Connection to eduroam
For visitors participating in University events or activities:
- The event organizer, who must be a member of the permanent staff of AUTh, submits a request for the creation of guest accounts:

- Upon approval, the accounts are created and sent to the applicant/organizer.
- The applicant is responsible for distributing the accounts to visitors in accordance with the service usage policy.
These accounts provide access to both the eduroam wireless network and AUTh Web Connect, in accordance with the instructions available in the relevant website manuals.
Obtaining a Temporary Account for Computer Labs
For access to computers in centrally managed Labs:
- A permanent member of the AUTh academic community submits a request for the creation of a guest account for Computer Labs:

- After the accounts are created, the access credentials are sent to the applicant.
- The applicant is responsible for providing the credentials to the visitor in accordance with the service usage policy.

- Guest Pass (AUTh Open)
Valid for one day from the time of activation.
- Eduroam Guest Accounts
Valid for one or more days, depending on the duration specified in the organizer’s request.
- Computer Labs Access Accounts
Valid for one or more days, in accordance with the period defined in the account creation request.

The use of Guest Accounts must comply with the AUTh Network Policy.
Guest Pass Accounts for Access to the AUTh Open Wireless Network
Access to the AUTh Open wireless network is subject to the following conditions:
A) The user accepts the SMS charge required for the service request (COSMOTE, VODAFONE: €0.09 plus VAT). This cost is determined by the Network Provider “Greek Universities Network (GUnet) S.A.”.
B) A record of the user’s details (mobile phone number) will be retained for a period of one year.
Temporary Access Accounts for the eduroam Wireless Network
In the case of event or conference organization, the organizer distributing the guest accounts is required to create and retain, for a period of one year, a record containing the details (full name and identity card or passport number) of the individuals who receive and use the account credentials.
Temporary Access Accounts for Centrally Managed Computer Labs
The use of access accounts for centrally managed Computer Labs is governed by the terms of use described on the Computer Labs webpage.
