Members of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) have access to a suite of cloud-based services provided through Google Workspace for Education, offered by Google Inc.
Google Workspace for Education is a collection of services provided free of charge to educational institutions. The core services available to AUTh members include:
The above services are provided and maintained by Google. The Digital Governance Unit (DGU) does not manage these services, and therefore cannot guarantee service continuity, feature availability or storage limits, as they may be altered at any time by the service provider (Google) without prior notice or warning.
You must have an active institutional user account at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).
To activate the service, follow these steps:
Log in using your institutional username and password at myaccount.auth.gr.
Navigate to myaccount.auth.gr/pr/application/view/5 and select “Accept” and the Activate button to enable the service.
Upon successful activation, you will be assigned a new user identity in the format:
<institutional username>@gapps.auth.gr
To access the Google Workspace for Education services:
Visit one of the following URLs:
Log in using your new user identity in the format:
<institutional username>@gapps.auth.gr
You will be redirected to the AUTh login page (login.auth) where you will be prompted to enter your institutional account credentials. A password is not required on the initial page.
Please note that the Google Workspace for Education suite offers a wide range of tools and functionalities. These services are utilized at the user’s own discretion. The DGU provides support solely for access-related issues and does not handle service-specific usage requests or problems.
The DGU periodically gathers user feedback and known issues, develops relevant user manuals, and maintains an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section to assist users who choose to utilize Google Workspace services.
If you wish to manage your institutional email account through Gmail, follow these instructions:
Log in to myaccount.auth.gr.
Go to Email → Email Forwarding, and add your Google Workspace identity in the format:
<institutional username>@gapps.auth.gr
Once configured, all emails addressed to your institutional email address will be automatically forwarded to Google’s mail servers. As a result, no messages will be received through the AUTH mail server, and access to incoming emails via webmail.auth.gr will no longer be available.
To manage your email from this point onward, access Gmail via:
https://accounts.google.com → Select Mail
Log in using your Google Workspace identity:
<institutional username>@gapps.auth.gr
Initially, emails sent via Gmail will appear to come from the address:
<institutional username>@gapps.auth.gr
If you prefer to send emails from your official institutional address, please consult the relevant guide available in the User Manuals section of this website.
